1. Who you are dealing with

albertacurrent.ca is operated by Alberta Current. Using the site, submitting an event, subscribing, or paying for anything on it means you accept these terms as they read on the day you do it. If you do not accept them, do not use the site.

2. Listings are information, not a promise

Alberta Current gathers event information from venues, organizers, ticket platforms, public calendars and published sources. It is republished as found, with the source and the date it was last checked shown on the listing.

Events move, sell out, change price, change venue and get cancelled, often after we have read them and without anyone telling us. Sources publish mistakes, and so do we. A listing is a pointer to somewhere else, not a representation that the event will happen, that it will happen as described, or that a ticket will be available.

Check the organizer or the ticket seller before you travel, pay, or plan around anything you read here. Alberta Current is not liable for any loss arising from a listing being wrong, out of date, incomplete, duplicated, missing, or from an event being changed or cancelled — including tickets, travel, accommodation, childcare or time.

Everything on the site is provided as-is and as-available, without warranty of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows.

3. Tickets and other sites

Alberta Current does not sell tickets and does not take a share of one. Every "tickets" link leaves the site. What you buy there is a contract between you and that seller or that venue, on their terms, and any refund, exchange or complaint is theirs to answer.

Links to other sites are not an endorsement, and Alberta Current is not responsible for their content, their prices, their availability or what they do with your information.

4. Payments are final

Every payment made to Alberta Current — sponsorship, promotion, a supporter contribution, or anything else offered on the site — is final when it is made. There are no refunds, partial refunds, pro-rated credits or cancellations, except where these terms say otherwise or where Alberta law requires one.

Payments are processed by a third-party processor. Card details are never held by Alberta Current. The processor's own terms govern the mechanics of the payment.

A supporter contribution buys nothing and entitles you to nothing. It is a gift, it is not a donation to a registered charity, no tax receipt is issued, and it is not refundable.

Starting a chargeback instead of writing to partners@albertacurrent.ca first is a breach of these terms. Write first — a genuine billing error is fixed the same day.

5. Sponsorship and paid placement

Paid placement is a clearly-labelled spot beside the board for a stated period. It buys the placement and nothing else. No number of impressions, clicks, visits, sign-ups, ticket sales or outcomes of any kind is promised, implied, or refundable if it does not arrive.

Fees are payable in advance and are non-refundable once the placement starts. If Alberta Current pulls a placement before it has run, the unrun portion is refunded pro rata, and that refund is your entire remedy.

Alberta Current may decline, edit or remove any placement — at any time, for any reason, without notice — including one that is unlawful, misleading, or that Alberta Current judges to be a poor fit for the board. Where a placement is removed for something the advertiser did or supplied, no refund is due.

The advertiser is responsible for its own copy, claims, artwork and permissions, and warrants it holds the rights to everything it supplies.

Downtime, a display error, a placement rendering on some devices and not others, or a period of low traffic is not grounds for a refund.

6. Submitting an event

Listing is free and stays free. Submitting an event means you have the right to submit it, that what you have told us is accurate, and that you grant Alberta Current a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to publish, edit, translate, syndicate and archive it — on this site, on any related site, and in email, feed, embed and social posts — for as long as Alberta Current wishes.

Alberta Current is under no obligation to publish a submission, to publish it within any period, to keep it published, or to give a reason for declining or removing one. Submissions are edited for length, accuracy and consistency.

You are responsible for what you submit, and you indemnify Alberta Current against any claim arising from it — including claims about copyright, trade marks, privacy, or the accuracy of what you supplied.

A listing that is wrong is corrected on request: write to partners@albertacurrent.ca. Correcting it is the whole of what is owed.

7. Email and messages

Subscribing asks for email. Every message carries a one-click unsubscribe and it is honoured. Alberta Current does not sell, rent or trade subscriber addresses.

A digest is compiled from the board and inherits everything said above about listings. Delivery is not guaranteed: mail is filtered, delayed and lost by systems outside our control, and a missed or late issue is not a breach of anything.

8. The site itself

No uptime is promised. The site, its board, its feeds, its embeds and its API may be slow, wrong, interrupted, changed or withdrawn at any time without notice, including permanently.

You may not scrape the site at a rate that degrades it for others, resell its data as a substitute product, misrepresent its listings as your own editorial, or use it to break any law. Access may be blocked for any of these without notice.

The site's own name, look, wording, code and arrangement belong to Alberta Current. Event information belongs to whoever supplied it.

9. Limit of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Alberta Current is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive or exemplary loss, or for lost profit, lost revenue, lost opportunity, lost data or wasted expenditure, however caused, whether or not the possibility was foreseeable and whether the claim is in contract, tort, negligence, statute or otherwise.

Where liability cannot be excluded, the total aggregate liability of Alberta Current for all claims connected with the site or with anything bought on it is limited to the greater of the amount you actually paid Alberta Current in the twelve months before the claim arose, and CAD $100.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited — including liability for fraud, for fraudulent misrepresentation, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, and including any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act (Alberta) that cannot be waived. Where a term of these terms is found unenforceable, it is severed and the rest continues in force.

10. Changes, and the law that applies

These terms may change. The version published here on the day you use the site or make a payment is the version that governs it, and the effective date above says when the wording last moved. Continuing to use the site after a change is acceptance of it.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the laws of Canada that apply in it. The courts of Alberta have exclusive jurisdiction, and you and Alberta Current each submit to them.
